Pleated shades consist of a fabric panel gathered into neat accordion-style folds 2-3 centimetres wide. Thanks to this construction, the shade folds compactly at the top or bottom of the window, occupying minimal space. Pleated shades are one of the few solutions that work perfectly with non-standard window openings: skylights, arched, triangular, and trapezoid windows commonly found in Dubai's villas and townhouses.

Pleated shades are made from specialised polyester and cotton-blend fabrics with anti-static and dust-repellent coatings. Many models feature a reflective layer that effectively protects rooms from UV rays and reduces heat gain — a particularly valuable quality in the UAE's hot climate. Fabrics with a honeycomb structure create an air pocket that provides additional thermal insulation and energy savings.

Pleated shades can be operated manually (via handle or cord) or motorised with a remote and smart home integration.
